Studio Policies
Arrival
Plan to arrive a couple minutes before your lesson. Students who are late cannot be guaranteed a full lesson. Also, arriving very early may disrupt the previous student’s lesson.
Missed Lessons
All students are entitled to 2 make up lessons. If there are extenuating circumstances regarding multiple missed lessons please speak with the studio. Lessons cancelled by the teacher for any reason will be rescheduled.
Recitals
There will be at least two studio recitals per year (Christmas & Year-end), and two studio parties (Halloween & Valentine’s Day). All students are highly encouraged to participate. Specifics will be provided closer to the recital date.
Required Materials
Please bring to each lesson your instrument/accessories, all assigned music, and two notebooks (one for the teacher and one for the parent).
Practice - Only on the days that end in “Y”
Daily practice is an essential part of every musician’s life. It is recommended that you create a regular practice time every day (eg: just before dinner - you always eat dinner, so you should always remember to practice!)
Parental Involvement
For students under 8 years old, a parent or guardian is normally expected to attend every lesson and supervise daily practice. Discussion about your child’s progress may take place at the beginning of your child’s lesson or by phone. Some students, however, learn better without their parents presence. This can be assessed and discussed at the initial consultation and then going forward on a case-by-case basis.
